With detailed plans having been completed and months of preparation going into this project Google will start laying fibre down in Kansas City from the 6th February 2012.
Kevin Lo, General Manager of Google Access talking about the network says that: "As we build out Google Fiber, we'll be taking thousands of miles of cables and stretching them across Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Each cable contains many thin glass fibers, each about the width of a human hair. We'll be taking these cables and weaving them into a fiber backbone—a completely new high speed infrastructure that will ultimately be carrying Kansas Citians' data at speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have today."
This is a substantial leap from Google being the great search engine and profiting from Adwords. However with Google becoming more and more involved in the Telecoms business with handsets and now fibre. What can we expect next from Google?
